Spiritual Formation | Ways to Grow Spiritually at Hope
"Spiritual formation involves a fundamental choice. Choosing to live for Jesus Christ may mean adopting a certain style of life or, perhaps, a rule of life. We take on a series of spiritual practices that will open us to God's work in our lives." -Emilie GriffinNew Community
DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR
On Wednesday nights, adults and children ages 3 through high school grow together spiritually. Nursery is also available for newborns through 3 years.
Spiritual Formation Retreats
A variety of spiritual retreats are offered through Hope at LivingStone. We will help you plan your spiritual reatreat or you can design one for yourself. Private spiritual retreats are times for individuals or small groups to have focused time with the Lord.
LivingStone Monastery is an evangelical monastery run by Hope Community Church. LivingStone is the home for an intentional Christian community dedicated to hospitality, serving the local church, and spiritual formation. Private guest rooms are provided within the community for retreatants.
We will also help you plan your own spiritual retreat. Contact us for additional information in setting up a personal spiritual retreat.
Baptism
Baptism is a step taken in spiritual growth.
Have you been baptized? If not...
Service
Service is an eventual outgrowth of your inward spiritual growth. Very often an arena of service is used by God to strengthen the support system around you, like strings supporting a young sapling. You continue to deepen your roots while learning how to let the work and life of God flow through you unto others.
Visit the Serving at Hope section of our site to consider this step.
Immersion Weeks at LivingStone Monastery
Most Christians long to dwell deeply in their relationships with God and others, to be salt and light to a frantic and scattered world. But too often we ourselves are overcome by the constant rush of the world's loud expectations, and soon become incapable of dwelling deeply and prioritizing those things that give life rich substance and meaning.
Immersion Week at LivingStone Monastery is an opportunity to learn how centuries of Christians protected themselves from this very danger through the regular practice of spiritual disciplines. For seven days, through study and practice, we will learn ten classical spiritual disciplines, such as meditation, hospitality, and celebration, that can root our identity and activity in Christ alone. We hope the week will provide not only retreat and refreshment, but a practical toolbox of those constitutive Christian practices that have sustained the body of Christ for over 2000 years. Come and immerse yourself in the flow of this sustaining grace!
Immersion weeks are designed to reveal how spiritual disciplines can set us free to know and love our God.
