Stand-By Teams

Able to be on "Stand-By?"

"Stand-By" teams... just a new way to describe a few of the ways to get involved at Hope. With drama, clerical help, hospitality teams, and our "Family Care" group, you could consider placing your name on one of these "stand-by" lists of people willing to be called upon when needs arise. You may not necessarily always be able to say, "Yes," but you're willing for us to give you a call. Check out the current groups below and consider throwing your name on the team.

Clerical

Responsibilities: On stand-by to assist with clerical tasks at Hope's office. Tasks will typically include copying and assembling bulk mailings or newsletters, but may also include the same for Hope 101 invitations and materials, materials for spiritual formation classes, and any other large projects. Can be an individual or a family. Skills necessary are variable, from copying, collating, 3-hole punching, paper-cutting, folding, stuffing letters into envelopes, stamping envelopes, sealing envelopes, applying mailing labels in order, and affixing round sealing labels to newsletter edges.

Writers Needed

Do you love to write? We need the skill of a few writers who would work on stand-by.

Responsibilities: Assist the deacons and leaders of Hope by generating exciting advertising text for their upcoming events. Receive notice of open assignments by email - accept as able. Information will be given with open assignment (contact info of event organizer, basic details of event, deadline for advertising launch, etc.).

Many of our events are on-going, and text from the prior year can be given as a starter. Our biggest challenge is with new events - catching the vision of the person whose idea it was and drawing the target audience to engage. The standard we aim for is 80% "why" and 20% "what." We need a few writers with initiative and commitment to volunteer to be on stand-by and begin assisting with the crafting of future advertising text.

Drama Ministry

Article Pic
Are you interested in helping out with dramatic sketches and readings for Sunday services? This is the place for you.  We are revamping Hope’s drama ministry and looking for those willing to participate! There is the option of being on stand-by if you cannot commit to being fully involved in the ministry. Please let us know if you are interested in being on the team or in serving in a stand-by role. Sign up in the welcome area in May or e-mail me.

Family Meal Ministry

Article Pic Family Meal Ministry provides meals to Hope members/families who need support during a time of difficulty. The most common circumstances are illness, surgery, hospitalization, birth of a child, or death in the family. Ideally, Hope desires to provide a weeks' worth of dinners on days helpful to the member/family. The more people willing to meet this need, the more families that can be blessed during a difficult time of adjustment. The best part of participating in this ministry is the opportunity to provide "hands-on" love and support in a very practical way and "bear one another's burdens." The fastest way to get connected to this ministry?

Hospitality

Article Pic
Hospitality teams exist to come in and prepare meals for guests/families/groups that are staying at LivingStone Monastery, to creatively find ways to bless the individuals while they are here, as well as to help out with meals for church-wide functions. Being involved with one of the hospitality teams gives you an opportunity to work behind the scenes and really get involved in the community. You determine your level of involvement, as this is a ministry that you can do on a regular basis or every once in a while. The more people involved, the more we are able to serve. The kitchen at LivingStone is really the heart of most functions and is a wonderful place to get to know others, including people from the other Mosaic churches. All the food to be prepared is already at the monastery and you don't have to bring or buy anything.
